En los albores del nuevo milenio, un asistente social holandés, una famosa poetisa japonesa y una chica brasileña han realizado el camino de Santiago y, de vuelta a sus países, miran hacia atrás hurgando en los recuerdos vividos. El viaje supone también un viaje hacia el interior de sí mismos, compartiendo un espacio físico y espiritual con millones de peregrinos que han hecho el camino desde la Edad Media. Laurence Boulting, autor de documentales como "Eduardo Chillida" o "Gernika, el espíritu del árbol", firma esta obra a caballo entre el documental más puro y la película de ficción. Boulting hizo durante cuatro años un viaje por la Ruta Jacobea y conoció a tres peregrinos reales (ninguno de ellos intérpretes profesionales), a los que eligió para protagonizar la cinta.
